Welcome to UpKeep, Justin!!!

Ryan Chan

Welcoming Justin Ngamthonglor to the UpKeep family as our Technical Project Manager!!

We have Justin Ngamthonglor joining our Product and Engineering department this week! Justin will be our Technical Project Manager, overseeing the various projects that the team is working on. We couldn’t be happier to have you on board, Justin – welcome!

We’re excited to welcome you to the UpKeep family, Justin! Tell us a little about yourself.

Born in LA, raised in Eastern North Carolina. I returned to LA for the automotive culture and haven’t looked back since. I maintain my Tarheel culture and roots in that I often make Eastern North Carolina style pulled pork (I infuse smoke with a Breville Smoking Gun). For those in the know… Vinegar > Tomato

How did you first make the switch from Property Management to Technical Project Management?

As I’ve learned, UpKeep is a project management tool. That being said, property management is very much like project management and is why UpKeep is well suited for property managers. Anyways… you get the point. I was approached by the CTO/President of the first tech company I worked for (I was the property manager of the building where he lived at the time) was looking for a Technical Project Manager, explained to me the similarities and that I would be a fit and I literally just jumped right in a few months later.

Why are you excited to join UpKeep?

I am excited to be part of a platform with a primary goal of helping a workforce that is grossly underrepresented in technology and fills a gap that few even think of. Having experience working with technicians (both in property management and automotive) I’m familiar with the challenges and opportunities there to streamline processes and help others perform their tasks more efficiently.

What are your first thoughts about the culture and team so far?

It’s very transparent that the team is close knit and the “force is strong” with this one. Collaboration is everything and everyone has been extremely helpful in addition to being well-versed in every aspect of the company and our user base. I’m very excited to integrate myself into the team.

We have to know – how did you get started as an Injury Video Review technician for the NFL and XFL? Would you tell us a little bit more about what that means?

I’m on the technical side of game day operations, my team and I are there to ensure systems are up and running so that team medical staff, unaffiliated neurologists and certified athletic trainers are able to review video of injuries during the game. We are essentially instant replay, for injury.

My former CTO, lead software engineer from my first tech company and I were recruited through a third party vendor video technology that many leagues use for our expertise in software development and technology.

And finally, most importantly, what would you be if you were a kitchen utensil?

Sous vide device (AKA immersion circulator). Not only is it my favorite utensil/appliance but it’s innovative and multi-purpose. I’m all about applying technology where applicable.
